Past playoff success:
All of these previously mentioned points are incredibly valid and necessary for a Super Bowl run. However, there is nothing more detrimental to success than an experienced, “been there before” team like the Baltimore Ravens. After all, the Ravens are 15-8 in the post-season, and 2-0 in the Super Bowl. It doesn’t get much better than that.
From the top to the bottom of this organization, Baltimore is scattered with talent, veterans, and stability other teams envy. Love him or hate him, John Harbaugh is a Super Bowl winning Head Coach with the most wins of any Head Coach in the team’s history. Harbaugh has also won at least one playoff game in each of his appearances.
After Harbaugh is an experienced front office and coaching staff that gives the team a nice edge over its competition. More importantly, the Ravens possess players who have had playoff success, and better yet Super Bowl wins. We will always fondly remember Joe Flacco for his remarkable 2012 post-season run and Super Bowl XLVII victory and MVP title, but the man also has a background and fruitful history in the playoffs. His leadership and well-versed past gives Baltimore another plus to their odds.
Beyond Flacco are guys like Terrell Suggs and Marshal Yanda, who also were members of the team’s last Super Bowl winning squad. But other veterans like Eric Weddle and C.J. Mosley give them another boost in confidence that’s much needed for these kind of scenarios. All in all, Baltimore has it all to maintain a steady mindset and make a run.
I know things have looked bleak repeatedly throughout the 2018 season, but we all have to remember just how good the Baltimore Ravens are once they get into the playoffs. It doesn’t matter how they do it, all that matters is that they pull it off. However, if the team can live up to everything we just talked about, there’s not a doubt in my mind that the Ravens could wind up making a trip to Atlanta, Georgia and appear in Super Bowl LIII.
