Justin Tucker and Sam Koch:

Kickers and punters already don’t get enough love from the media and now the Pro Bowl voters decided to vex Ravens Flock by voting New York Jets kicker Jason Myers in to the 2019 Pro Bowl over Justin Tucker. It’s OK though, because Tucker was named a “first alternate,” should Myers decide to forgo the Pro Bowl. Tucker has a perfect reaction to this news:

While Myers has certainly had a remarkable year, he still doesn’t hold a candle to Tucker’s 2018 season, let alone his career. Tucker has “missed” just two field goals all year long, the same as Myers. The reason we put Tucker’s misses in parenthesis is because both of those attempts were blocked. Tucker also has missed just one extra point this season, which was the first of his entire career. Myers has missed three this season, including two just this past week.

Voting in kickers to the Pro Bowl shouldn’t be this difficult when Justin Tucker is on the ballot. He should be making it every single season, no questions asked. It doesn’t matter who else is kicking well, because Tucker is outpacing and simply performing better than anyone else can. How does the greatest kicker of all-time have just two Pro Bowl nods despite his ridiculous stats?

As for Sam Koch, his work continues to go unappreciated by football fans. Koch is an extraordinarily remarkable piece for the Ravens team as a whole, yet he can’t get enough votes to make the Pro Bowl regularly. Koch is a model of consistency in Baltimore, but he just can’t break through enough to get national attention and it’s a shame.
