3. The team has an identity:

Remember, the Ravens would be starting completely anew if they parted with Harbaugh. They would have a new head coach to go along with their new general manager and new quarterback. Keeping Harbaugh in the loop makes for an easier transition from Ozzie Newsome to Eric DeCosta. DeCosta and the Ravens know what they have in John Harabaugh. He is a Super Bowl winning coach who has brought nothing but stability to the Ravens. Keeping Harbaugh allows the future to fall into place the way that DeCosta has planned in coordination with Newsome.

A new coach may want new personnel on the roster. Harbaugh already knows the roster inside and out. He knows what the Ravens need, and while he isn’t calling the shots, his input is very important. The Ravens have the number one defense in the NFL and have become a run first team since Jackson has been the quarterback. The Ravens built the defense mostly through the draft. The franchise is starting to build the offense up. The Ravens are a win away from a playoff berth; they don’t need a complete rebuild.

Next. Ravens beat Chargers: The good, bad and the ugly. dark

The win against the Chargers is a great sign that the Ravens have made the right decision. The team knows what they are, they know what they are all about. There is a clear formula for the Ravens. While the Ravens surely have to adjust the offense a bit going into next year for Lamar Jackson, the plan is making the Ravens contenders., The team reached a rock bottom after their loss to the Steelers. They found themselves, and Harbaugh’s coaching is proving to be quite valuable. The Ravens know what kind of team they want to be and Harbaugh is a huge asset to DeCosta.
