Jacksonville Jaguars:

A hot topic of discussion when it comes to the Joe Flacco trade talk has been the possibility of shipping him to the Jacksonville Jaguars, and there’s plenty of logic behind this thought.  If you think about it, the Jaguars are extremely similar to teams the Baltimore Ravens once fielded: dominant defense, power run game, and good-enough receivers. Sound familiar?

Flash back to the 2017 playoffs that saw the Jaguars make it all the way to the AFC Championship game. Jacksonville was so close to making it to the Super Bowl, but just couldn’t shut the door on Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. Aside from the defense being unable to close out the game, the team’s offense was simply lackluster with Blake Bortles at the helm. Unfortunately for the Jaguars, Bortles remains their starting quarterback and nothing’s changed.

Believe it or not, Joe Flacco is undoubtedly a better option for Jacksonville to roll with if they want to win during their window. Everyone is young and ready to make the charge for a championship. The offense, led by running back Leonard Fournette (for now), is more than good enough to control the clock and put points on the board. Match them with a defense that’s perhaps the best in the league and a former Super Bowl winning quarterback and you’ve made yourself as good a competitor as anyone else.

As for the 2019 NFL Draft, the Jaguars are in the top ten and could elect to take a quarterback like Dwayne Haskins. Both of these young men could use a year to develop and could do that behind Flacco. Or, the team could load up in 2019 to capitalize on their young team and win a ring.

Either way, Jacksonville is a quarterback away from a deep playoff run. With a healthy Fournette and this defense, adding Joe Flacco to the mix simply makes the team a front runner in the AFC. Flacco can help them win now, but he can also set them up for the future.
