This is a great day to be part of the Ravens Flock. One of the greatest Ravens players of all time, Ed Reed, was voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame:

The Ravens fanbase is getting spoiled when it comes to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Ravens first two draft picks (Jonathan Ogden and Ray Lewis) were inducted into the Hall of Fame. Last August, Lewis took the stage in Canton and made the most of it to say the least. Jonathan Ogden was inducted in 2013 and it doesn’t feel like it was that long ago. Ed Reed will soon join Ogden and Lewis into the ranks of the true legends of the game.

Reed will go into the Hall of Fame alongside Tony Gonzales, Champ Bailey, Ty Law, Kevin Mawae, Pat Bowlen, Gil Brandt and Johnny Robinson. Of the players to be on this list, Reed and Robinson are in complete opposite situations. Reed didn’t have to wait at all, Robinson played for the Kansas City Chiefs in the 1960’s. Interestingly enough four of the six players in this class are defensive backs.

According to reports it didn’t take long for the Hall of Fame voters to make a decision on Reed. It took just over two minutes of discussion. Reed going into the Hall of Fame was one of the most obvious things of all time. Reed was a history maker, a record breaker and a fan favorite for over a decade. Reed gave the Baltimore crowd amazing spoils at M&T Bank Stadium. In 2004 he broke the record for the longest interception return. In 2008 he broke that record again. He truly was incredible on the football field.

Let’s look at some of the reaction on Twitter, starting with the man himself:

This next tweet from ESPN writer Kevin Van Valkenburg is just awesome. Valkenburg talks about the next level kind of chess match Reed played with quarterbacks like Peyton Manning. It’s a great example of how Reed wasn’t just an incredible athlete, but a great student of the game. Reed had instincts like no player in NFL history and it’s because he fully committed to the mental side of the game.

This is a fanbase that is really celebrating this moment. Reed was one of the most popular players the Ravens have ever had. For many fans he is their favorite Ravens player of all time. Reed will always be loved by Baltimore. Here are some tweets that reflect that:

This final tweet looks at how impressive of a group the Hall of Fame really is. The Pro Football Hall of Fame tweeted out a picture of the defensive backs who just got into the Hall of Fame. Then Sean Snyder, tweeted that it was fitting that Reed got in the year after Brian Dawkins. Dawkins and Reed were two players who  defined the safety position in the 2000’s. When you look at the picture with Reed, Robinson, Law and Bailey it’s hard to believe that much talent is in one picture. Reed may be the headliner, and he’s closest to our hearts at Ebony Bird, but these players are all the best of the best.

Next. 3 keys for a Rams victory in Super Bowl 53. dark

Congratulations to Ed Reed! This is a very deserved honor for the greatest ball-hawk any of us will ever see in this lifetime.
