2. Eric McCoy, C (Texas A&M)

Another Senior Bowl participant, Eric McCoy looks like a really solid center. The center position will be a battle between Matt Skura and Bradley Bozeman without a move from the Ravens, which means a center is on the table in this draft. While you might want to see longer arms from your offensive linemen, McCoy has the size and strength to hold his own. According to Texas A&M’s football website, McCoy was voted a captain and it’s easy to see why. He’s rock solid.

McCoy is very athletic and really impresses when making blocks in the second level of the defense. He’s really good at setting up running backs on screen passes. He has quick feet and his athleticism is his best quality. McCoy would be an instant upgrade over Skura and Bozeman and they could probably get him with their third round pick. McCoy would enter training camp as an underdog to get the starting job, but he could earn it by the end of the preseason. Plus, McCoy can play guard.

Greg Roman’s offense needs players like McCoy. They need good run blockers who not only create rushing lanes at the line of scrimmage, but also make the blocks that spring Lamar Jackson and company into the open field for big gains. After watching the tape, I’m sold on McCoy.
