3. Damian Prince, Guard (Maryland)
Damian Prince was an offensive tackle at Maryland, but he’ll have to move to guard at the next level. Prince is a raw player, who needs to be coached up. He has the talent and his thick frame and strength should add up to a chance in the NFL. If the Ravens can get Prince in the fourth round, I’d like it. If they got him in the fifth I’d love it. Too often Terrapins who deserve a shot with the purple and black don’t get one. This is a player that has a ton of potential, even if he’s not a day one starter in the NFL.
Prince is built like a guard. He lacks length, being just 6-3. He struggles with speed off the edge. At guard he can bully people with his strength but at tackle, he would have a lot of trouble,. Prince is a high effort player, who is a very strong run blocker. Prince isn’t the flashiest player, but he is a decent option on day 3 of the NFL Draft. He has the potential to be a very good player, and with the right coaching he will be.
The Ravens are really good at finding players later in the NFL Draft. This is especially true of linemen, Rick Wagner is a really strong example of this. It’s something that Eric DeCosta will have to continue as the new general manager of the purple and black. These are three players that aren’t getting enough love, that should be on the Ravens’ radar.
