Here are 4 free agents the Baltimore Ravens shouldn’t target:

Earl Thomas

The Ravens need to get younger at the free safety position. Moving on from Eric Weddle would free some cap space. One way or another the free safety position is an area Baltimore can improve upon. The Ravens need more speed in the back end of their defense.

There are some players that would make sense in free agency. Lamarcus Joyner and Ha-Ha Clinton Dix are players that the Ravens could target. Today, we’re focused on the players that the purple amd black should not sign. The first player on the list is a big name, a Super Bowl champion and a former member of the “Legion of Boom.” A few years ago this would be a masterful move. Now it would be the wrong decision.

Earl Thomas is not the solution. Thomas is 29 years old and with his injury history, that’s more like over 30 in football years. Even if Thomas has good football left in him, his best football is behind him. Moving on from Weddle and bringing in Thomas just wouldn’t make any sense. He’s a big name, but so is the player they already have.

If the Ravens aren’t going to get younger at this position, Weddle has to stay. Weddle not only knows the defense, but he could give seminars on it. Weddle is the leader of the secondary. While Eric DeCosta does have a decision to make at this position, Thomas makes no sense at all for Baltimore.
