Landon Collins

Landon Collins is one of the most fun players in the NFL to watch. At the end of the day, he just doesn’t fit the needs of the purple and black. Collins is a strong safety, something Baltimore has plenty of. The Ravens already have Tony Jefferson, Chuck Clark, Anthony Levine Sr. and DeShon Elliott at Collins’s position. Some would argue that Weddle is a strong safety playing the free safety role.

Collins also isn’t really a ball-hawk. Collins had no interceptions this season. Collins had five interceptions in 2016, but in the other three years of his career he’s totaled three picks. He may have more range than anybody on the Ravens roster, but he isn’t a free safety. A trend that you may be picking up here, is that getting the right players is very important. Good players don’t always fit into the puzzle. The Ravens don’t need a fifth strong safety.

Free agency is a great tool for building the team if it is done correctly and responsibly. It is however, easy to pick up the wrong players and overpay them in the process. These are four of the biggest names on the market, but they shouldn’t be targeted by Baltimore.
