Robert Griffin III:

Better the evil you know than the evil you don’t, right? Is that the correct phrase? Not necessarily… but Robert Griffin III is far from a devil, nor is he evil. By all means, RGIII is simply the type of player we are most familiar with, therefore why change anything?

It was very clear in 2018 that the Baltimore Ravens were content with RGIII has the team’s back-up quarterback, and it’s safe to assume he was a good mentor to Lamar Jackson. From the moment that Griffin was signed, there was a harmony established in the quarterback room. Between Joe Flacco’s veteran leadership and Griffin’s wisdom and experience as a mobile quarterback, the two crafted a safe environment for Jackson to grow into.

Of course, Flacco has recently been traded to the Denver Broncos and Griffin is currently an unrestricted free agent. That leaves Jackson as the only quarterback on the roster and it would be smartest to keep your core as consistent as possible. Jackson is just 22-years old and having a mentor like Robert Griffin III is more than ideal for the young man.

Of all the guys on this list, RGIII easily has the highest ceiling and the most continuity within the locker room. If, God forbid, something were to happen to Jackson, Griffin would be the guy I’d trust most to keep moving the team forward. But from a pure back-up quarterback situation, Griffin already has a rapport with Jackson and is by far the most ideal candidate to return to Baltimore in 2019.
