John Brown:

Let’s start with what we already know.

John Brown was electric at points last season for the Baltimore Ravens, but he significantly cooled off once Lamar Jackson took over. This shouldn’t come to the surprise of many, as Brown had a great connection with Joe Flacco compared to Jackson. But now with a full off-season to work together, should the Ravens resign him, that narrative could change.

Why the Baltimore Ravens should resign John Brown. light. Related Story

We still saw late in the season that Brown was still capable of making play, the team simply couldn’t get him involved enough. Between Jackson’s inconsistent arm and Brown’s one-trick pony mentality, the two were simply never on the same page. If the Ravens can come to the realization that Brown can be more than a deep-threat, they could be on to something there.

Everyone seems to quickly forget that Brown recorded a 1,000-yard season with the Arizona Cardinals back in 2015. With the Ravens, he was seemingly on pace for that same milestone while Flacco was under-center. There’s little-to-no reason to believe he suddenly isn’t that guy anymore with a new quarterback. On the contrary, Brown can still be the explosive receiver the Ravens need with the right coaching.

Now that Greg Roman is calling the shots as the team’s new Offensive Coordinator, the offense will be tailored to Jackson’s strengths. This will mean running the ball at will and making quick strikes in the passing game. Brown could easily become a huge part of this offense again in that type of scheme. If the Ravens agree, resigning Brown should be a priority so that he and Jackson can begin building a rapport together this off-season.
