Jamison Crowder:

Jamison Crowder’s injury plagued 2018 season really hides just how good he’s been in Washington since coming into the league in 2015. Before playing in just nine games last season, Crowder had back-to-back seasons of 66+ receptions and ~800 receiving yards in a crowded receiving group. Taking into account Crowder stands at just 5’9″ 177-lbs., it’s a testament of how good he can be.

Crowder is entirely a slot-receiver who can be crafty with the ball in his hands. Crowder isn’t going to be a game-breaker for any team he joins, but he could certainly be a difference maker for the Baltimore Ravens.

More than anything, the Ravens need bodies in the wide receiver group. The position is completely depleted as of now, but adding a player like Crowder gives it some validity. What makes signing Crowder so enticing is how dirt cheap he could be. Considering he’s always been a good, not great receiver, he’s already in marketable range for a receiver needy team. Add in the fact that he was severely held-back in 2018, signing Crowder to a one-year “prove-it” deal could be in the folds.

Jamison Crowder is by no means a foundational piece for the team’s wide receiver spot past 2019, but he could be a band-aid while Baltimore does some soul-searching in the draft. However, if Crowder were to surprise us and succeed, he’ll be just 26-years old in June, making him a candidate to stay long-term in Charm City.

Crowder is nearly identical to John Brown in more ways than one, so fans may be more inclined to resign Brown. While I am 100% in that camp, if the Ravens can’t bring Smokey Brown back, Crowder could be a good Plan B.
