Ndamukong Suh:

I mentioned that the Baltimore Ravens should entertain signing Ndamukong Suh recently and it received nothing but negative buzz. It makes sense considering Suh isn’t the post productive player in the NFL. It also doesn’t help his case that he maintains a reputation as a loose-cannon type of person. Suh has gotten somewhat better in recent years, but his mentality comes and hurts him occasionally.

But more often than not, that same mentality that Suh possesses makes him one of the most feared defensive linemen on the football field.

Baltimore Ravens should target Ndamukong Suh in Free Agency. light. Related Story

Suh has it all for an elite defensive linemen: traits, mindset, physicality, skills, you name it. The only thing that Suh doesn’t get these days are sacks. Unfortunately, that’s what teams keep paying him to do, and right now that’s just not who Suh is.

There was a point in time where Suh was an unstoppable pass rusher from the inside, but he’s lost a step in that department. Instead, Suh is a gap eating monster with absurd quickness to close lanes and make life easier for his teammates. The Ravens may have two outstanding defensive tackles in Brandon Williams and Michael Pierce, but they simply aren’t what Ndamukong Suh is.

It’s Suh’s ferocity makes him such a deadly asset, yet fans continuously overlook that fact. The reason he remains on the market more-or-less has to do with how to pay him appropriately for what he can give you. The upside to be an elite pass rusher is still there, but the way he plays still makes him worth the money.

This doesn’t seem overly likely to happen, but I would love to see the Ravens make this move after the purge we’ve seen on this defense.
