3. DeCosta is like Newsome, but his own man:

DeCosta is like his mentor in a lot of ways. He has a method, he has a plan and he sticks to it even when he’s under a great deal of pressure. DeCosta has taken the core tenants from the gospel of Newsome and he’s applied them to his own approach. The fact that this offseason has played out much like years past, means that the Ravens have the same type of leader calling the shots. DeCosta is though, very much his own man.

It seems like the Thomas deal wouldn’t have happened if Newsome was still the general manager. That was a big splash signing, when the team absolutely needed it. Nobody thought the Ravens were going to make a move like that, because it wasn’t something the Ravens typically would do. DeCosta clearly has a vision for the future and it’s an exciting one. DeCosta grabbed a star player off the market and he worked it into the future. It was an aggressive move that he struck on at the exact right time.

The Ravens are about to go into the NFL Draft that they have got to get right. One thing is for sure, Baltimore should feel confident about their general manager. He’s shown that he has the rare skills needed to be a disciplined and wise general manager.
