The NFL Draft is less than a full month away. Here is a preview of the wide receiver position for the Baltimore Ravens fan:

The Baltimore Ravens need to find young wide receiving talent through the NFL Draft The need couldn’t be more obvious and this is the NFL Draft to do it. Eric DeCosta is now calling the shots, and it’s time to wipe the slate clean and do away with the baggage when it comes to drafting the position.

When it comes to the receiver position in the 2019 NFL Draft it’s good to break things down into tiers. The first tear on my wide receiver list is the safest bet grouping. These are play-makers whose talent will translate to the NFL. These players all remind me of a player that’s been a star in the NFL. For example, Kelvin Harmon reminds me of Keyshaun Johnson while Deebo Samuel looks like a young Steve Smith. They have the key traits that you look for, without the red flags. The Baltimore Ravens must pay attention to these players:

Tier 1: The safest bets:

  • Kelvin Harmon (NC St)
  • N’Keal Harry (Arizona St)
  • Deebo Samuel (SCAR)
  • A.J. Brown (Ole’ Miss)

The one thing all of these receivers have in common (other than great production at the collegiate level) is that they are tough number one receivers. Harmon is the best receiver in this draft class in my estimation. Harmon is a good deep threat but where he really does his best work is the intermediate passing routes. Harmon and Brown are the top two route runners in the draft class. Samuel is a dangerous runner when he has the football and his speed and overall athletic ability is off the charts. Harry is the big bodied receiver with the best catch radius. Lamar Jackson will get more accurate with Harry as his go to receiver, because accuracy isn’t always required when you can catch pretty much anything.
