Garrett Bradbury is dream scenario for Baltimore Ravens
By Ian Schultz
As the Baltimore Ravens look to solidify their offensive front, Garrett Bradbury would be a slam dunk selection at 22nd overall.
When it comes to the 22nd overall pick for the Baltimore Ravens in the upcoming 2019 NFL Draft, Garrett Bradbury, the 6’3″ 306-lbs. center from NC State, is the team’s dream scenario.
Garrett Bradbury was the 2018 Rimington Trophy recipient, an award that is given for the best Center at the collegiate level. In addition, he was also honored as a Consensus All-American selection for his performance with the Wolfpack in 2018.
A converted high-school tight end, Bradbury was able to successfully make the transition to interior offensive line. He started every game of his career there after his transition in his red-shirt sophomore season.
His durability and perceived ability to play both center and guard make him an attractive candidate for a Ravens team that is sorely in need of offensive line depth. He is a prospect that is considered worthy of a starting job from Jump Street and many in the draft world believe he projects as a potential 10 year+ starter at the NFL level.
As the Ravens intend to continue to build their team around the strengths of QB Lamar Jackson, it is imperative to have an offensive line that can be relied upon heavily and Bradbury could prove to be one of the missing links for the Ravens to solidify their front.
He is an athletic and versatile center who will thrive best in an outside zone blocking scheme. While his fit may not be perfect for a Ravens offense that figures to rely primarily on inside-zone concepts, Bradbury has shown the ability to adjust throughout his career.
Perhaps Garrett Bradbury’s greatest strength is his football IQ and technical prowess. No matter how much film you watch or prospect previews you take in, the prevailing wisdom is that Bradbury is a fundamentally sound blocker with great footwork and has outstanding technical abilities.
Currently without a second round pick and two “needs” along the offensive line, selecting Garrett Bradbury will solidify the center position in Baltimore for years to come.
