3. The Ravens need a strong start:

The Baltimore Ravens need a strong start to the season because the path is so challenging. The most winnable games on their schedule is probably the first two games. The Ravens must start with two wins. After the first two games the Ravens play the Chiefs, Browns and Steelers. Starting out 5-0 would be an incredibly hard ask while two or three losses could easily be in play for the first five weeks. A 2-0 start would give Baltimore a cushion. If the Ravens lost against the Chiefs and against the Browns they could survive it. Without two wins at the start of the season it could get out of hand early, even if this team has what it takes.

Baltimore needs a statement win or two in the first portion of the season. Maybe that’s a win in Arrowhead or maybe it’s quieting the Browns. One way or another John Harbaugh’s team needs to build confidence early in the season. If they can’t win the big games this year, they won’t be winning a lot of games. This is the toughest schedule the Ravens have had in years, something that comes with winning the division. Now the Ravens have to prove that it wasn’t a fluke. If the Ravens are crowned AFC North Champions in 2019 it will be an absolutely incredible achievement.

This is not a year where the Ravens have time to feel it out and get it together. They have to be firing at all cylinders early. This is not a season in which the Ravens can lose games they should win. Every chance the Ravens have to put a win on their season mark, they have to do it. Missed opportunites will result in missing the playoffs and their first chance to help themselves is right when the season starts.
