Elgton Jenkins:

The Baltimore Ravens opted to pass on some top-tier offensive line talent in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Guys like Jawaan Taylor and Cody Ford took unexpected drops to the 25th overall pick (following the team’s trade down). Despite this, Baltimore still opted to draft Marquise “Hollywood” Brown.

However, day two of the draft could be a different story. There should be plenty of offensive line talents in day two, but the well will dry up before the night is over. That’s why if Mississippi State’s center Elgton Jenkins remains on the board in round three, the Ravens would be smartest to pull the trigger on him.

Right now, the interior of the team’s offensive line is, well, not great. Marshal Yanda is the only reliable player in that group, and beyond him are players who would barely make another team’s final roster.

With Jenkins, the Ravens will shore up their offensive line with a young leader to captain their line for the next 10+ years. Giving Lamar Jackson the opportunity to grow with Jenkins is yet another positive to support this move. More than anything, Baltimore needs more talent and depth along their offensive line as a whole, and Jenkins talent would help to make up for some of the team’s shortcomings.

The third round of the 2019 NFL Draft is more often than not the deciding factor of whether or not you nail your draft class. Some great talents have slipped down the board and the Baltimore Ravens should capitalize on those players.
