The Baltimore Ravens entered Day 2 of the 2019 NFL Draft with a long wait. They didn’t have a second round pick but they were able to knock it out of the park in the third round:

There was a lot of talk about the Ravens potentially trading up into the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft. There were so many good players on the board and it must have been a tempting option for the Ravens. As talented players slipped further and further into the second round, it became clear that Eric DeCosta’s best course of action was rocking out in the third round. That’s exactly what he did. He nailed it.

In his first draft as the Ravens general manager he has picked three players all at a position of need. He found an absolute steal of a pick in Jaylon Ferguson. Ferguson is going to be an incredible pass rusher for the Ravens. The Ravens missed out on signing Justin Houston but Ferguson is the younger and more affordable version. Then the Ravens were able to pair Miles Boykin, a big bodied wide receiver with the speed demon that Maquise “Hollywood” Brown is.

This is DeCosta’s first draft and he clearly has a plan. DeCosta is sending a statement. He is handling this draft like he’s done it before and the scene isn’t too big for him. This is a good day for the Ravens Flock and there are good signs for the future. It’s time to get to the report card. How did DeCosta and the Ravens do? Here are grades for the Day 2 action.
