The Baltimore Ravens had a productive 2019 NFL Draft. It was great for the team but not necessarily these players:
1. Gus Edwards
The drafting of Justice Hill is bad news for every Baltimore Ravens running back not named Mark Ingram. Ingram is used to working in tandem with other running backs, and his spot in the offense is secure. The player that this pick impacts the most is Gus Edwards. Edwards could find himself as the odd man out of the shuffle. He’s the downhill running back who runs hard. Ingram is going to fill that role.
Edwards is now the least versatile of the running backs. Kenneth Dixon can offer the same downhill running but is a good receiver out of the backfield. Justice Hill is a player that is great as a receiving running back and he has the explosiveness to make every play a big one. Ingram is the main hammer for the backfield. Ingram is the Earth, Dixon is the wind and Hill is the fire. Edwards being the odd man out all the sudden becomes a possibility.
Edwards went from the number one running back, to part of a Ingram led trio to just one of four running backs in Baltimore. Edwards is a perfect fit for the offense, but his 2018 spark may not lead to a fire in 2019. Hill, who could become the x-factor of the Ravens offense, is the last player Edwards wanted the Ravens to take.
