3. The Perfect Combination with Lamar Jackson

The idea of putting Hill in the backfield seems almost cruel. Imagine being a linebacker and having to figure out if Jackson kept the ball or handed it off to Hill. Either way it’s quite the foot race and any hesitation will give the Ravens’ the advantage. Getting a running back who has a chance in a sprint against Lamar Jackson is huge. This double dose of speed could make the Ravens’ offense unbelievably difficult to defend. If you thought the guessing game was hard with Jackson and Edwards, you’re about to see an upgrade.

Jackson’s speed makes him a player that the defense always has to account for as a possible ball carrier. The more speed the Ravens put around Jackson the more they can stress the limitations of linebackers and safeties. As long as the offense doesn’t over lean on it, the zone read play with Jackson and Hill is going to be a nightmare for opposing defenses. If Jackson makes the right choice it almost promises a positive play.

This draft class was all about investing in Lamar Jackson. Marquise Brown has the potential to become a star receiver. Miles Boykin has the chance to be a go to weapon for the offense. Justice Hill is a play-maker. Ben Powers will help the offensive line in front of Jackson. If Hill pans out, he may end up being the most important pick of this draft class.
