2. There will be a healthy competition on the defensive front:

More from Ravens Draft

The Ravens have a ton of talent in the front seven and there will be a lot of competition this August. The Ravens added two defensive linemen through the draft process. Daylon Mack was a fifth round pick and Gerald Willis is a potential diamond in the rough as an undrafted free agent. With Brent Urban signed away in free agency, the battle for snaps as defensive linemen has gotten interesting.

There are several defensive linemen looking to take a step up. Willie Henry is entering a contract year and he’s shown flashes. Zach Sieler made the team last year as an undrafted free agent while Chris Wormley could be the up and rising star of the group. You cannot forget about Pat Ricard, who more notably plays fullback.

There will be plenty of competition at the outside linebacker position. Outside of Judon, the Ravens have to figure some things out. Tim Williams, Tyus Bowser and Jaylon Ferguson will be vying for snaps at outside linebacker. In a perfect world, the Ravens would see an impact from all of three of their unproven outside linebackers. The Ravens have to replace about 16 sacks from Suggs and Smith. Don Martindale’s defense is built around the concept of getting pressure in the backfield. The need for outside linebackers to win battles off the edge didn’t walk away with the Ravens two free agent departures. The competition up front is going to be incredible. The defense wasn’t decimated, but it won’t be the same. New play-makers have to step up to the task.
