Today, we’re taking a fun look at the Baltimore Ravens 2019 NFL Draft Class

The 2019 NFL Draft has come and gone as the Ravens added an influx of new talent to their roster. The draft class is 8 players deep, as well as a long list of undrafted free agents. Eric DeCosta’s first draft should have Ravens fans excited about the team’s  direction going forward. He was aggressive in getting the guys he thought fit the Ravens mold as they enter a new era of football in their franchise. Instead of giving out letter grades, I wanted to give out superlatives and try to project what some of the players might be as rookies and for the upcoming years as Ravens.

The pick who will be a day 1 starter and instant impact rookie: Marquise Brown (WR, pick #25)

This one is pretty obvious, as it goes to the Ravens first round pick, Marquise “Hollywood” Brown. After trading back 3 spots from their original pick at #22, Eric DeCosta had plenty of options to go with at pick #25. Montez Sweat, Cody Ford and every single wide receiver was still on the board. Hollywood Brown was DeCosta’s guy all along though. By selecting him over every other receiver it shows what the Ravens think of him as a player and what they think he can do for this offense.

Brown immediately becomes the most dynamic weapon on offense not named Lamar Jackson. He is a polished receiver with lightning quick route running. His world-class speed and lateral agility will make him a dangerous play-maker right out the gate. Brown perfectly compliments the Ravens run-heavy attack. He isn’t a volume based receiver and he doesn’t need a lot of targets to be successful. In the Ravens offense he may only get a handful of touches a game, but he legitimately can score anytime he touches the ball.

The only concern about Brown is his size, just 5’10” and 166 pounds. It is definitely is a scary flaw to have, but if he stay healthy and protects his body, he can be a star in this league. He has the skill-set to be a DeSean Jackson, Tyreek Hill, Brandin Cooks type player for the Ravens. As a rookie Brown has a good chance to lead the team in receiving yards and touchdowns.
