The best value pick: Justice Hill (RB, pick #113)

The theme DeCosta had for this draft was speed and surrounding Lamar Jackson with play-makers. The selection of running back Justice Hill at the beginning of the fourth round stultified that notion and was my personal favorite pick. Hill was the missing piece the Ravens needed for its stable of running backs. Mark Ingram brings 3-down versatility and Gus Edwards is the early down hammer. Hill is the home-run hitting, speedy running back that can pop off big plays in a heartbeat.

Hill was another combine stud that was the top performer in 3 drills, besting the running back group in 40-yard dash, vertical jump and broad jump. His production at Oklahoma State was just as impressive. Since starting as a true freshman in 2016, Hill amassed 3,539 rushing yards and 30 touchdowns in 3 seasons. Also notching 49 receptions for 304 yards and a touchdown, Hill has the ability to be a nice dump off option for Jackson in this offense.

For the 2019 season, Hill will definitely be a in a complimentary role as Ingram and Edwards handle most of the early down work. He will still see the field plenty though, as read options with Jackson and Hill’s speed are going to very difficult for defenses to handle. Running backs like Alvin Kamara, James Connor, and Tarik Cohen prove teams can find great value for the position in the middle rounds. Justice Hill has the talent to be the next mid-round running back draft gem for the Ravens.
