A -. . . Baltimore Ravens. OVERALL OFFSEASON GRADE

This hasn’t been a perfect offseason, but the moves the Ravens have made are mostly stellar. The Ravens only added one offensive lineman and the center position has still not been addressed. The outside linebacker position went from an assured strength of the team to a question mark. Eric DeCosta did a lot of good, but this team still has a lot of looming questions.

The offense will be different and that in itself is exciting. The Ravens are young on the offense. Inexperience goes both ways. It can be exciting but it can get in the way. This may be the first or second go around for many of the key players but John Harbaugh has 11 years at the job to lean on. The defense will be missing a few familiar faces but the addition of Earl Thomas counterbalances most of that. That was a big upgrade for the Ravens.

Eric DeCosta has done what he needed to do. He flooded the offense with play-makers, something that hasn’t happened for a long time in Baltimore. He doubled down on the secondary being the strong suit of the team and stabilized the defense after it lost big name players.

The Ravens are undergoing a youth movement with a quarterback who is entering his second season in the league. They are probably a year from being a true contender but that’s okay. The Ravens will have more cap space next offseason than the team has had in a long time. If the purple and black can make some noise in 2019 and establish Lamar Jackson as the real deal, this offseason was a success.
