Here is a look at three Baltimore Ravens who are better than you think they are:

1. Patrick Onwuasor

When C.J. Mosley signed with the New York Jets there was plenty of overreacting about the state of the Ravens defense. One reason the defense is not in bad shape is because Patrick Onwuasor is a better linebacker than he gets credit for. Onwuasor rotated into the linebacker spot across from C.J. Mosley last season. He registered 59 tackles, 5.5 sacks and an interception. By the end of the season Onwuasor proved that he had the chops to be an every down linebacker for the Ravens.

Onwuasor is a player that has been getting better at a fast rate. This will be his fourth season. Like Zach Orr, Onwuasor was an undrafted free agent from a small school. He has always had the ability to make plays. He really started making his mark in the 2017 season when he had almost 100 tackles. Mosley is gone and all the sudden Onwuasor is the most seasoned inside linebacker the Ravens have. This is his chance to step up.

Onwuasor doesn’t have the Pro Bowl filled resume of Mosley. There’s no way to paint the picture in which Mosley wasn’t a big loss for the defense. It’s also hard to say that the Ravens defense will be dismantled without Mosley. Onwuasor is a linebacker with some coverage skills and he is a down hill run stopper. He’s shown that he has talent. Now it’s time for him to stop being a role player and start being the quarterback of the defense.
