Nick Boyle got a nice pay day from Eric DeCosta and the Baltimore Ravens this offseason. That should keep him motivated in the 2019 season. Here are three goals for Nick Boyle:

1. Be the best blocker at the tight end position:

Baltimore Ravens football needs a blocking tight end like Nick Boyle. That’s because Baltimore Ravens football always brings a commitment to the running game. Boyle is a great example that good players don’t always get the glory. He doesn’t have to catch touchdown passes to make a difference. He has to move people off the line of scrimmage. He has to be a versatile player, who can be a key cog in the Ravens running game. Every player has to play to their strengths and this is the way Boyle helps the Ravens win.

Mark Andrews and Hayden Hurst will get more targets than Boyle. They’ll get more attention and  appreciation from the fans as well. Boyle’s satisfaction doesn’t come by gaining 20 yards on a big play. Boyle’s satisfaction comes from springing a running back into the open field with a fierce block. Boyle has to be the best blocking tight end in the league. That’s what the Ravens paid him for. Boyle is a big part of the Greg Roman offense and in an under the radar way he was one of the more important players on the field.

The Ravens are going to use a lot of multi-tight end sets in their offense. Each tight end has their job to do. If Boyle does his job at an elite level, he may earn the kind of recognition he deserves.
