Aqib Talib (33) & Marcus Peters (26):

Staring with the duo Eric Weddle has dubbed as the best he’s played with…

Aqib Talib and Marcus Peters are two veterans who have bounced around teams. This is especially true for Talib, as he has played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New England Patriots, Denver Broncos, and now the Los Angeles Rams. Talib has been one of the top corner backs in the league since he was drafted in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft, despite fighting injuries and suspensions.

Talib’s running mate, Marcus Peters, wasted no time making a name for himself in the league, notching eight interceptions his rookie season with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2015. Last offseason, Peters wore out his welcome in Kansas City and was traded to the Los Angeles Rams, which was a monster move at the time for both teams.

Since the 2015 season, Peters hasn’t played up to that same eight interception level, but he has still been a very solid cover corner.

Jimmy Smith (30) & Marlon Humphrey (23):

Jimmy Smith is probably the most frustrating player on the Baltimore Ravens roster because of his injury and suspension history, mixed with his extremely gifted coverage skills. Smith has all the attributes you look for in a cornerback in today’s pass happy NFL. He’s tall, lanky, fast, and physical.

Smith is one of the best press coverage cornerbacks in the league when he’s healthy and on the field, which is what frustrates fans because he’s only had two seasons where he started all 16 games (2013 & 2015).

Marlon Humphrey, on the other hand, is an up and coming star while only entering his third NFL season. In his rookie year, the Ravens eased him onto the field because they had the luxury of doing so with Jimmy Smith and Brandon Carr locking down the outside corner positions. Then around halfway through the 2017 season Humphrey assumed a starting role in the place of an injured Jimmy Smith and never looked back.

Last season, Smith and Humphrey provided a dynamic corner back duo and helped lead the charge on the best defense in the league.
