The Baltimore Ravens beat the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2012 season in what had to be the worst win the team ever had:

There were many memorable moments from the 2012 Baltimore Ravens. They beat the Patriots early in the season, with Justin Tucker’s field goal being as close as it could ger. The Ravens beat the San Diego Chargers behind the 4th and 29 miracle Ray Rice weaved the team to. There was the Mile High Miracle and redemption and then redemption in the AFC Championship game. They won the Super Bowl after the lights went out.

The least memorable good moment of the season was the 9-6 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. This was an ugly game in which neither team played all that well. If it wasn’t for a Matt Cassel fumble near the goal-line, the Chiefs probably would have won the game.

The statistics from the game were brutal for both quarterbacks. Joe Flacco went 13-27 for 187 yards and an interception. Matt Cassel went 9-15 for 92 yards and two interceptions. The Chiefs run game managed to make this a scare for Baltimore. Jamal Charles had 31 carries for 140 yards. The Chiefs ran for a total of over 200 yards in the game.

The Ravens offense didn’t even get to the red zone. The Chiefs out-gained the Ravens and dominated time of possession. If it weren’t for four Chiefs’ turnovers, Baltimore probably would have lost the game.

The game ended up giving the Ravens a crucial win. If you remember, the Ravens won the 2012 AFC North Championship by a narrow margin. They had a late season collapse that almost prevented a Super Bowl run. Every win the Ravens got counted so importantly. If the Chiefs had won this game, who knows what would have happened.

The moral of the story is that there is no such thing as a bad win. This is a game though, that many people in Baltimore would like to forget. Both teams played mistake filled games that made it such an unflattering game. This win ended up being an important result, yet it’s one moment that’s more comforting to forget, out of a Super Bowl season.
