Jaylon Ferguson:

Jaylon Ferguson is raw and undeveloped as a pass rusher. The argument that the Ravens will have to wait for the real production of Ferguson holds some weight. Ferguson is taking a big jump from Louisiana Tech to the NFL and that’s not something you can ignore. Just being the best athlete on the edge doesn’t mean that you’re going to get big sack numbers. That being said, his traits are going to help him.

Ferguson is going to have to learn more pass rush moves to get to the quarterback on a regular basis. Much like Lamar Jackson was a work in progress last season for the offense, Ferguson is a work in progress for the defense. Speed, size and length doesn’t do everything but it does help a lot. Ferguson is a great 6’5″ athlete. He has a great first step and he can cover a lot of ground in a quick burst of explosion. He will win some battles on the edge just because he has the goods.

Tim Williams:

Rounding out the list is Tim Williams. Williams is a pass rusher from Alabama which is otherwise known as a Ozzie Newsome special. Williams flies off the edge. He has such incredible burst. From an athletic perspective he has what it takes. The Ravens just need to see him prove it. They need to see that athleticism add up to something on the field.

Williams has a chance to be the pass rush specialist of the group. In passing situations he could be the player the Ravens have fly off the edge on a mission. He could be the third down pass rusher. Williams has burst that never went away just because he hasn’t been on the field. That’s what Williams has going for him, explosiveness and plenty of it.
