3. Find the next Michael Pierce

Michael Pierce was an undrafted free agent who made his way on the team by bullying backups in the preseason. The Ravens defensive line is so filled with youth. The preseason offers them a chance to find the next young defensive lineman who is going to become a core player for the defense. The Ravens defensive line has two proven commodities. They have Pierce and Brandon Williams. Somebody else has to step up.

Gerald Willis is an undrafted free agent and he has the potential to be a great defensive lineman. He is certainly a player to keep your eye on. Willis had 18 tackles for a loss and four sacks last year for the Florida Gators. With production like that he should have been drafted. Willis is the prime candidate to follow Pierce’s example. Another player to keep your eye on here is Zach Sieler. Sieler was Ozzie Newsome’s last draft pick. He is a massive defensive lineman who could take a step forward in his second preseason.

Next. 3 goals for the Ravens offense against the Jaguars. dark

There is a lot of work for the defense to get done. The preseason is about building towards something and shaping the 53 man roster. The best part of the roster is the secondary. The Ravens need to see their investment in the defensive backfield pay off. The most concerning part of the defense is the pass rushers. Keep your eyes on outside linebackers and defensive ends.
