Amidst final roster cuts, the Baltimore Ravens have traded offensive lineman Jermaine Eluemunor to the New England Patriots.

Short of a few select spots, the Baltimore Ravens offensive line battle has been an intriguing one. Only Ronnie Stanley and Marshal Yanda have 100% secured their starting spots at left tackle and right guard respectively. The rest remains murky, and it appeared the Jermaine Eluemunor was on track to take hold of the left guard spot. That seemed to be the case, right up until he was traded away.

In the late afternoon of August 28th, the Baltimore Ravens dealt Jermaine Eluemunor to the New England Patriots. The details are unclear thus far as to what the return will be for the Ravens.

With this move, the offensive line competition is in even more confusing now. Rookie Ben Powers could step in as a week one starter, but if Orlando Brown Jr. takes firm hold of the right tackle spot it wouldn’t be surprising to see James Hurst get the nod at left guard.

Moving Jermaine Eluemunor also opens up a potential roster spot for another offensive linemen to make the final roster. The clear cut guys to make the roster are Stanley, Yanda, Brown Jr., Hurst, Powers, Matt Skura, and perhaps Bradley Bozeman. Beyond them are guys fighting for their NFL careers. Greg Senat might be the most “Proven” of the bunch, but we can’t overlook guys like Darrell Williams and R.J. Prince. These guys will get to make their final bid for the roster on Thursday night’s preseason finale against the Washington Redskins.

While Jermaine Eluemunor was far from a sure-thing to start, and even then would’ve been a low-end starter, it still leaves the final offensive line product a bit of a mystery. It’s nice to see Baltimore move on from a player who has yet to reach his potential, and we hope to see him turn his career around in a new team via the New England Patriots.
