Trace McSorley has definitely done enough to secure a roster spot as the third QB. Although the Ravens traditionally keep only two quarterbacks, keeping an extra QB this year would be smart considering the playing style of Jackson and Robert Griffin III.
Kenneth Dixon is too good of a player to keep off the roster in my opinion, even if his career has been riddled with injuries to this point. Don’t be surprised if he gets traded within the next week, as the Ravens have three capable running backs in front of him and they might not feel the need to carry four running backs.
Michael Floyd’s big night in Philadelphia won’t be enough to earn him a roster spot; the younger and faster Jaleel Scott will snag the last receiving position. Seth Roberts was one of the best players in camp before his injury, leaving players like Floyd and Antoine Wesley on the outside looking in.
Baltimore’s historic streak of keeping an UDFA on the final roster continues with Patrick Mekari and Otaro Alaka. Mekari shined this preseason and even took snaps with the first team offense at one point. Not only will he make the roster, but Mekari has a good shot at being the starter for Week 1 in Miami. With Jermaine Eluemunor’s departure to New England, Mekari’s roster spot is further solidified due to the uncertainty at Left Guard.
Similarly, Alaka also made a name for himself this preseason. I see Alaka sneaking onto the roster as his performance thus far has been too good for him to be cut. Chris Board is expected to make a full recovery in a few a weeks time, but if he is not ready for Week 1 the Ravens will have Alaka to lean on until he comes back.
After making my 53 man roster projections, I think the Ravens will surprise a lot of people this season. With a potentially revolutionary offense paired with a historically great defense, the sky is the limit for Baltimore’s squad this year.
