The preseason has come and gone, complete with roster cuts and updated rosters. Here’s what’s been going on in the AFC North in the month of August.

Baltimore Ravens:

The Baltimore Ravens are the kings of the AFC North! … as far as preseason wins go.

For the fourth year in a row, the Baltimore Ravens have completed an undefeated preseason run. Baltimore is now 17-0 in preseason games since 2016. While the wins are completely meaningless in the bigger scheme of things, it’s still a really cool run that has me and other Ravens fans entirely interested and entertained in their preseason games.

This preseason, Baltimore made some splashes with moves throughout the team to include trading kicker Kaare Vedvik to the Minnesota Vikings for a 2020 fifth round draft choice. Vedvik, unfortunately, was recently cut from the Vikings after missing each field goal attempt he had in Minnesota.

It’s a total bummer, too, as I claimed Vedvik to be the best kicker in the NFC North from the moment he arrived… yikes.

Besides Vedvik, the Ravens cut big-names in wide receiver Jordan Lasley, who was nothing short of a punk in his short stint with the team, and defensive lineman Willie Henry. Henry is a stud when healthy, but unfortunately he simply can’t stay healthy. Still, the Ravens cutting Henry was a shock.

On a lighter note, quarterback Trace McSorley and wide receiver Jaleel Scott balled out this preseason and earned themselves spots on the Ravens final 53-man roster. It was a pleasure to watch them dominate all preseason, and it’s a cherry on top of it all to see that they made the roster.

If the preseason is any indication of things to come, the Baltimore Ravens look ready to once again compete in the regular season for the AFC North crown. The same can’t be said of the next team we must discuss…
