Lamar Jackson:

Without a shadow of a doubt Lamar Jackson earned himself a game ball. Jackson was dealing all day long and couldn’t be stopped. It was like he was back to his college days at Louisville, dicing up some division three school. Instead, he carved up an NFL defense for a tad over three quarters and turned in a historic performance.

On the day, Jackson totaled 324 passing yards and five touchdowns. Jackson’s performance garnered a perfect passer rating. The way “Action” Jackson was playing was reminiscent of how your athletic cousin would dominate you at the annual family turkey bowl.

Some will be quick to point out that the Baltimore Ravens played the Miami Dolphins, and therefore all the production is inflated. In response to the hate, here’s a couple things to consider…

For starters, the Dolphins defense has quite a few studs littered throughout it, particularly in the secondary. Cornerback Xavien Howard is the reigning interception leader from 2018, while safeties Reshad Jones and Minoan Fitzpatrick are highly thought of players. They were no match for Lamar Jackson, however.

But here’s the most important thing to remember: there’s nothing Miami can do to effect the way that Jackson is throwing the ball with grace and accuracy. The steps he’s taken from year-one to year-two are astounding. It’s nothing short of remarkable how well Jackson played and if he can be even half as good for the remaining 15 games of 2019 as he was in week one, Baltimore is playoff bound.

Not bad for a running back.
