4. New Orleans Saints

In the first game since the infamous no call, the Saints left Mercedes Benz Superdome with a victory. The New Orleans defense struggled against Deshaun Watson and the Texans offense, allowing over 400 yards of total offense. However, Drew Brees showed that he is still one of the top quarterbacks in the league, leading the Saints to a walk-off field goal. Brees finished with 370 yards, 2 touchdowns, and a pick. Alvin Kamara started his 2019 season off strong, tallying 169 yards from scrimmage. Michael Thomas caught ten balls for 123 yards and Ted Ginn caught 7 for over 100 yards. The Saints have a Super Bowl Caliber offense, and if the defense can step up it’s play the Saints will be dangerous.

3. Los Angeles Rams

The reigning NFC Champions secured a close 30-27 victory against the Panthers. Jared Goff had a mediocre game, throwing for 186 yards, 1 touchdown, and an interception. Todd Gurley had a nice game, totaling 97 yards on the ground. The Rams defense forced three turnovers on the day to go along with three sacks. Greg Zurlein had a solid day, hitting on 3/4 field goals, including a booming 56 yarder. The Rams are an obvious Super Bowl contender, and Sunday’s game did nothing to change that.

2. Kansas City Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes showed why he was last season’s MVP. Mahomes threw for almost 400 yards and three touchdowns, en route to a 40-26 victory over the Jaguars. All three of Mahomes’ touchdowns went to Sammy Watkins, who had a amazing day, finishing with 198 yards, and the three scores. Kansas City forced two turnovers and showed the league that they are a forced to be reckoned with this season.

1. New England Patriots

The champs are still here. At 42, Tom Brady looked as good as ever, throwing for 341 yards and three touchdowns. I’m telling you, the guy doesn’t age. Brady spread the ball around and made the Steelers defense look clueless. Four receivers totaled over 50 yards as the Patriots beat the Steelers 33-3. And remember, New England gets arguably the best receiver next week in Antonio Brown. New England is once again a Super Bowl favorite. Sometimes, life just isn’t fair. Unless, you’re a Patriots fan.
