3 questions facing Ravens as they get set to host Cardinals
3. How will the Cardinals attack the Ravens offense?
The Ravens are a hard team to game plan for offensively. Their offense is built to be a power running team that has three good running backs and the fastest quarterback alive. That being said, Baltimore has Marquise Brown, Mark Andrews and Willie Snead in the passing attack. Lamar Jackson showed everybody that he can hit throws down the field last week. The Cardinals have to pick a poison. Will they try to load the box and stop the ground game or play to not give up big plays in the passing attack?
Greg Roman is playing a game with their opponents. They know as sure as the day is long that they can run the ball. They know Jackson is better at being a quarterback than people believe he is. Roman knows he can win either way. This offense is built on options and it will take what the defense gives it. If you think about it like a game of chess, this game will be extremely telling for the purple and black.
The best possible outcome is that the Cardinals overreact to the week 1 game. If the Ravens win in week 1 by aerial assault and then by ground and pound in week 2, what do the Chiefs plan for? This is going to be a season long adjustment process for the league against Baltimore and their new look offense. The Cardinals defensive game plan will be fascinating.
