The ugly:

A high-flying air-raid attack straight out of college was too much for a secondary featuring Earl Thomas and Marlon Humphrey. Read the statement again and again until you’re too angry to do it anymore.

Week two’s performance from the Baltimore Ravens secondary was absolutely unacceptable. A unit that features so much talent should not have been taken advantage of the way they were. The Arizona Cardinals were throwing the ball AT WILL against these guys, and the amount of 50/50 balls thrown up for grabs that Arizona came down with was disturbing.

One injury to Jimmy Smith shouldn’t justify a butt-kicking to the other Pro Bowl talents in the secondary. Tony Jefferson looked sluggish, Earl Thomas was too quiet, and Marlon Humphrey was doing just about all he could do. Overall, there’s a lot of work to do in the film room.

There were so many big-plays given up, but can we talk about penalties for a minute? This Ravens team seemed undisciplined vs. the Cardinals and it was embarrassing. Baltimore’s team as a whole needs to settle in more, because better teams will take advantage of those mistakes and blow the Ravens out of the water.

Finally, and I’m only touching on this briefly, is the offense missed some plays they made last week. Lamar Jackson talked about his frustrations over this, however, and I have faith that the team will get it right moving forward.
