Darin McCann’s prediction:

Before the season started, I picked every game for the 2019 Ravens. Like most football observers, I had the Ravens winning their first two. For this coming week, I had them falling in a close game to the Kansas City Chiefs.

I’ve changed my mind.

Yes, Lamar Jackson has been impressive these first two games — more so than probably even the most optimistic of Ravens fan would have projected. And that does play a big part in my thinking. Plus, the big-play possibilities on every play with rookie receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, the steady presence of Mark Ingram in and out of the backfield, and the near-automatic combo of Jackson and Mark Andrews bring more to the table than the Ravens brought to Kansas City last year.

But, I’m also liking the defense in this matchup. Not to dominate, mind you, but to hold the Chiefs to 27 points, and that should be enough this year. The loss of tackle Eric Fisher could open the door to one extra sack this go-around. The loss of Tyreek Hill could mean another conversion not made. And Earl Thomas could make a play on one of those deep passes from star quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

I’m counting on the Ravens to move the ball consistently this game, behind the legs of Jackson and Mark Ingram, and passes to the tight ends. And I’m looking for Brown to get loose once, with Chris Moore making an appearance for another long play.
