Cleveland Browns:

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you your current AFC North leaders… the Cleveland Browns.

It feels wrong to say for multiple reasons, and surprisingly not as a writer covering the Baltimore Ravens. Rather, it’s weird to imagine the Browns winning, well, anything really. But hey, good for them. The team has been rebuilding since 1999 and things finally seem to be going their way… sorta.

What do I mean by sorta? Well, despite a first place standing in the AFC North, the team is tied with the Ravens with a 2-2 record. If not for tie-breakers, Cleveland wouldn’t have a leg-up on anyone in this division. The reeling Pittsburgh Steelers are 1-3 and still alive in the AFC North race. Considering the talent and expectations set on the Browns, they need to get winning and pull-away fast.

The team has a tough Monday night match-up on the road against the currently undefeated San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers are far from perfect, but they still pose a threat to an equally imperfect Browns team. Nonetheless, Cleveland should win the game.

The Browns schedule isn’t kind over the next few weeks, with San Francisco, the Seattle Seahawks, and the New England Patriots on deck. If Cleveland can’t get two wins out of that stretch, their AFC North title hopes will be hurt pretty badly.
