Week 5 Fantasy Football preview: Ravens vs. Steelers
By Mike Reid
The Baltimore Ravens face a crucial game this week vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers, but Fantasy Football is just as important. Here’s our advice for the game.
Another week, another rivalry game for the Baltimore Ravens with some major Fantasy Football implications. As they fell to the Browns last week with a very disappointing loss, they now have to travel to Pittsburgh to face off against their bitter rival, the Steelers.
This is a big get-right game for the Ravens as they can ill-afford to drop three-straight games. The Ravens sport the number one offense in the NFL in terms of total yards, rushing yards, and tied at the top for points per game. It has been a strange twist this season, as it has been the defense for the Ravens that has disappointed thus far.
The Ravens offense has been money in bank for Fantasy Football. In my latest Fantasy Football stock report article on Tuesday, I went through where the Ravens big-four on offense ranks for Fantasy Football right now compared to where they ranked preseason. Lamar Jackson, Mark Ingram, Marquise Brown, and Mark Andrews have all exceeded their expectations so far by a mile.
On the flip side the Steelers big-time play-makers are not putting up elite Fantasy Football numbers like they were expected to. Of course the season-ending injury to Big Ben was a major blow to the offense for the Steelers. Still, James Conner and JuJu Smith-Schuster have not lived up to their very high draft cost.
This will be an interesting game for Fantasy Football purposes. It is the Ravens with the more explosive offense and the Steelers with the tougher defense, definitely a swap from the usual team strengths. Also, the weather could be an x-factor as there is a 50% chance of rain during the game. This could slow the game down a little bit and force each team to run the ball even more. This would certainly favor the Ravens as they are the leading rushing team in the league already.
As for must starts in this game, Lamar Jackson and Mark Andrews should be in at your QB and TE if you have them. You aren’t sitting the QB1 and TE3 for anyone right now. Hollywood Brown can be considered an upside WR3 as well. He has had two disappointing games in a row so he is due for a big play or two.
On the Steelers side, James Conner was not on the final injury report so he is a must start. He is coming off a strong Monday Night performance against the Bengals. The Ravens defense has been gashed the last few weeks by running backs also. Here are the other starts and sits for this divisional match-up!
