AFC recap cont.:
Jaguars beat New York Jets
Leonard Fournette continues to power the Jaguars to their wins, but Gardner Minshew is playing like a legit Offensive Rookie of the Year candidate. Jacksonville sits at 4-4 on the season, with the AFC South within its grasp. The Jets sit at 1-6 on the season and should begin doing their research on the top prospects for the 2020 NFL Draft.
Indianapolis Colts come up clutch vs. Denver Broncos
Jacoby Brissett is for real, people. The Colts, sitting at 5-2, control their destiny moving forward and look like legit contenders despite Andrew Luck‘s retirement seemingly placing the team in limbo. The Broncos, meanwhile, are sitting at 2-6 with tensions rising between the staff and its players. Former Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco had this to say on the game:
"“I mean, come on. I just look at it like, we’re now a 2-6 football team and we’re like afraid to go for it in a two-minute drill. You know?” Flacco told reporters after the game. “Like, who cares if you give the ball back to the guys with 1:40 left? They obviously got the field goal anyway. Once again, we’re a 2-6 football team and it just feels like we’re kind of afraid to lose the game.” —Joe Flacco, Denver Broncos quarterback"
Buffalo Bill stomped by Philadelphia Eagles
Despite strong play from quarterback Josh Allen, the Bills were unable to slow down the Eagles offense powered by running backs Jordan Howard and Miles Sanders. Buffalo remains a playoff contender at 5-2 but should be somewhat concerned with how they played vs. a quality opponent in Philadelphia.
The AFC was busy in week eight and the Baltimore Ravens learned plenty about the rest of its conference during its bye week. The conference looks to be a tough one, but hopefully, the Ravens took their time in preparing and studying their opponent’s film during their week off.
