The number one seed is a possibility:

The Ravens could get the top spot in the AFC playoffs if they can manage a 14-2 record. They have a win against the Patriots on their side. The Patriots still have to conquer the Dallas Cowboys, the Houston Texans and the Kansas City Chiefs. If the Ravens run the table, the Ravens just need one slip from New England to get the top seed in the playoffs. The Patriots played a cupcake schedule in the first half of the season. Now, the defending Super Bowl champions get to be challenged.

The Ravens have two tough games left outside of their divisional opponents. If the Ravens get past the Rams and 49ers with two wins, they have a realistic shot at never losing another game this season. The Patriots have shown some vulnerability. The Ravens ran all over them. The Eagles gave them a scare. If the Patriots aren’t quite as good as their billing, the Ravens have a chance to cash in on it.

The Ravens have only gotten a playoff bye one time in their history. The 2006 Ravens went 13-3 and lost to the Indianapolis Colts. This isn’t the 2006 team, a playoff bye will help them in their chase of the Lombardi Trophy. If the AFC has to go through Baltimore, you have to bet that Lamar Jackson will make his first Super Bowl appearance this season.

Getting the top seed in the playoffs would be an historic milestone for the franchise. More importantly it would make their goals easier to accomplish. The Ravens have proven that they can beat anybody this season. If their opponent has to come to Baltimore in the postseason, the Ravens have a massive advantage. The top spot in the playoff picture is the perfect motivation for the purple and black.
