Keith Runk:

You can’t overlook the easy opponents. As Baltimore Ravens fans, we know this. That is unless you’ve recently hopped on the bandwagon.

But they’re right. Despite the short week and several injuries, any worry is unfounded.

The Ravens have yet to struggle against an unworthy opponent this season, and I am hard-pressed to believe they’ll start Thursday. Lamar Jackson could be without his favorite target in Mark Andrews but we’ve seen what the speedy tight end Hayden Hurst can do in his stead.

Ronnie Stanley is doubtful with a concussion, which will likely thrust James Hurst into the spotlight. Okay, maybe here we can be concerned. But I’m not so sure this could cost us the game.

The Jets defense is staunch against the run, they rank second allowing 78.8 yards per game. Don’t be surprised if the Ravens more than double that number on Thursday.

Basically the entire Jets roster turned up on the injury report this week. Eight players did not participate in Wednesday’s practice including and four have already been ruled out for Thursday and another four are doubtful.

It’s a short week, players are banged up on both sides. In years past, I believe we’d be right to be considering this a potential trap game. But these Ravens are different. We simply do not lose this game.

Score: Ravens 38 – Jets 7

Predictions:

  • Sam Darnold will throw a pick-six and give up a scoop-and-score. Ravens defense will have him seeing ghosts.
  • Lamar Jackson will have another three-touchdown performance. He will also rush for more yards than Le’Veon Bell.
  • Hollywood will find the endzone again after having three catches for -2 yards last week.

Absolute Mortal Locks:

  • Lamar Jackson will set the NFL single-season quarterback rushing record on the first drive (needs 23-yards)
  • Jackson will also have over 122 passing yards and become the first NFL quarterback with 4,000 passing and 1,500 rushing yards in first 30 games.
