Tight Ends: Mark Andrews, Dennis Pitta, Todd Heap

Todd Heap got the tight end position off to a good start in the 2010-2019 decade. Heap’s last year with the Ravens came at the beginning of the decade. Like Mason, he has to be included on the list because in that one year of the decade he performed at a high level. He is also in the conversation for the greatest tight end in Ravens’ history. In the 2010 season, Heap had five touchdown receptions.

Dennis Pitta was such a preferred target for Joe Flacco that when he returned in 2016, after basically missing out on two straight seasons, Pitta had 86 receptions. Injuries ruined what could have been an incredible career for Pitta. He was one of the best tight ends the Ravens have ever had when he was at full strength. Pitta had 61 receptions and seven touchdowns in 2012. Pitta was a very big part of the Super Bowl run that season. He made clutch catches and his reliability was his calling card.

The 2019 Ravens have three great tight ends, but Andrews is the top play-maker. It was tempting to include Nick Boyle, but keeping an All Decade team to three tight ends feels like the right number. Andrews is a young star that has been voted to his first Pro Bowl this season. He has the chance to become the best tight end the Ravens ever had and that potential has to give him a spot on this list. His signature moment thus far was his touchdown reception against the Chargers in a big regular season win for the Ravens in 2018.
