Baltimore Ravens beat Browns 31-15: The good, bad and ugly
The Ugly:
The Ravens were undisciplined in this game. The officials were horrible, and the pass interference penalty on the Browns’ first scoring drive was controversial for a reason. That doesn’t change the fact that the Ravens made mental errors in this game. Instead of attempting to get a yard on fourth down, the Browns got a first down due to an encroachment penalty on Matt Judon. It was one of three penalties on that drive that cost the Ravens. A holding penalty on Marcus Peters nullified an interception.
In the first half slump, the Ravens had a fumble that was the result of a mishandled hand-off exchange between Jackson and Ingram. Jackson was uncharacteristically indecisive and made the decision to keep the ball too late. It was the kind of thing where the Ravens got away with against the Browns, yet they may not always be so lucky against better teams. Against the Jets the Ravens had special teams errors and in this game they coughed up the football messing up a routine run play. The Ravens need to clean up their sloppy play to continue this win streak all the way to the Super Bowl.
In the end, the Ravens won this game convincingly. It was a sloppy game where both teams were penalized seven times. The officials took some of the fun out of this game; it felt like they were a little flag happy. This wasn’t the sharpest the Ravens have looked, and they still got things clicking. This wasn’t the most dominant win the Ravens have had and they still controlled the game once they figured out how to flick the switch.
