Questions

Is there a record for most records set in a season?

The Ravens set the single season record for team rushing yards Sunday with 3,296. This surpasses the 1978 New England Patriots’ record of 3,165 yards; a record that was recently coined the record that will never be broken.

Baltimore also became the first team to average 200 passing yards and 200 rushing yards per game for an entire season. This all comes in the same season that they have an MVP quarterback who lead the NFL in passing touchdowns.

In addition to the records Lamar Jackson has broken with his unprecedented play, it seems that every week the Ravens are breaking franchise or league records. I could begin to list them, but I feel like my fingers would get tired.

What does this game say about this team?

Starting the backups against the league’s fourth ranked defense was not encouraging for any fan hoping for a win. Especially after seeing the starters on the offensive line for this one.

Even the backups can get it done.

While, at times, Griffin III reminded us how spectacular of a player Lamar Jackson is, the run game didn’t miss a beat without Mark Ingram. Gus Edwards and Justice Hill washed away any doubt, which shouldn’t have existed in the first place. Edwards rumbled his way to 130 yards and Hill tacked on another 39 yards and a touchdown.

They made plays on defense and special teams too. The Steelers’ offense scored only 10 points for the third week in a row and could only muster up 168 total yards. That’s 55 fewer yards than the Ravens ran for.

Special Teams got in on the fun with the forced fumble touchdown after the botched snap on a punt. This, of course, was followed by an immediate safety which effectively took a meaningless, lack-luster game and made it exciting.

The success of this game is a testament to the coaching staff and front office, in my opinion. But it also shows how special of a team this is, and how dangerous they will be in the playoffs with the starters fresh.

I said last week that the Ravens are the most complete team in the league. Is it wrong to say that they have the most depth too?
