 5. Marquise Brown

Marquise Brown is a play-maker at the wide receiver position when the Ravens offense is humming the way it likes to. Brown gives the Ravens an element of speed that the defense always has to be cognizant of and that can be used to create plays for other players. When Brown shows up in the box score it tends to be in a big way. He had 147 yards and two touchdowns against the Dolphins. Brown followed the season opening performance up with eight grabs for 80 yards against the Cardinals. He had four receptions for 80 yards and a touchdown in Cincinnati and he added two touchdowns against the Los Angeles Rams. Jackson likes to throw the ball to Brown and he’s at his best when Brown is targeted.

When the offense seemingly forgets about Brown, the Ravens can get two in the tackle box focused. They do so much of their work with three tight ends, Lamar Jackson, Pat Ricard and the running backs that the receivers become an after thought. This crowds the defense right in the tackle box. While the Ravens have an understandable “You know what’s coming and you can’t stop it” approach, they are best when they open up the offense and let Jackson shine as a quarterback. They are best when then defense has to worry about Brown taking the top off of their defense as much as they have to worry about the hammer that is the Ravens’ run game.

The more Marquise Brown in this game the better. The Titans are going into this game focused on Jackson, Ingram, Edwards and Andrews. Adding Brown to their list of concerns is a very good idea for Greg Roman and the offense.
