Greg Roman:

How can we not give some love to the mastermind behind one of the NFL’s greatest offenses in the history of the league?

What Greg Roman did in 2019 was remarkable, and that still doesn’t do justice to the work he did with this team. Roman turned Lamar Jackson from a run-first and subpar passer into a First-Team All-Pro quarterback. Jackson had a record-breaking year because the offense was tailor-made to his strengths.

The run game is always a strength with Roman calling the shots, so it comes as no surprise that the unit led the league in rushing yards. What many could not have predicted was the fact that they set the league record for rushing yards in a single-season while having his quarterback smash the single-season quarterback rushing yards record. Jackson and Mark Ingram became just the seventh duo to each rush for over 1,000-yards and the second quarterback/running back duo.

The passing game was also successful under Roman. The Ravens became the first team ever to average over 200-yards rushing and passing in a single-season. Baltimore also finished the year with the most team touchdown passes at 37.

As a whole, Greg Roman was wildly successful. It’s not a wonder that he had teams lining up to interview him as a head coaching candidate this offseason. The Baltimore Ravens should thank their lucky stars that they had him for 2019 and hopefully beyond that. Here’s a game ball to this brilliant offensive mind.
