Many at fault for Baltimore Ravens disappointing season-ending loss
By Ian Schultz
No halftime adjustments:
The defense was able to hold the Tennessee Titans the rest of the half allowing Jackson and company to finish two field-goal drives to end the half trailing 14-6. The Baltimore Ravens were getting the ball and I was in the stadium attempting to tell everyone things were going to be fine. We score here and all is well. 11 plays and 57-yards later the Ravens had it 3rd and two at the Titans 19. Edwards was stuffed for one-yard setting up 4th and one at the18.
Taking the points here keeps momentum in your favor, cuts the lead to five, and continues to instill doubt in the Titans. But Mr. Analytics went for it on fourth down and Jackson was stuffed again. After the turnover on downs, Derrick Henry breaks a Matt Judon tackle on 3rd and one from the Tennessee 28 and rumbles for 66-yards for a goal to go opportunity. Three plays later he tosses a touchdown pass to Corey Davis and it’s 21-6.
But it’s not curtains yet. Two score deficit midway through the third quarter is not insurmountable. Especially with this historic offense. But then this happens:
You know that scene in the longest yard where they keep yelling get rid of it? That was me from section 117. Jackson held onto the ball far too long here. He avoids Jurrell Casey initially and climbs the pocket looking downfield. His internal clock has to tell him he’s out of time and to throw this one away. He doesn’t and again the defense is tasked with a short field. Six plays later it’s 28-6 and Elvis left the building.
